Sparking Innovation at FET, University of Buea: Our April 2025 IoT Hackathon
From April 7th to 9th, 2025, we took our Internet of Things (IoT) Hackathon journey to the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) at the University of Buea, where 32 students immersed themselves in three days of creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on innovation.

The hackathon brought together passionate engineering and technology students eager to design solutions that respond to real-world needs. With laptops, sensors, and boards in hand, teams worked intensively to turn their bold ideas into functioning prototypes.
Highlights of the Hackathon
Innovation at Scale: Students built smart solutions ranging from agricultural monitoring systems to connected healthcare devices.
Team Spirit: Collaboration was at the heart of the hackathon, as students from different departments like electrical engineering, mechatronics, software engineering combined technical know-how with creative problem-solving.
Mentorship & Guidance: Our facilitators provided insights on IoT applications, entrepreneurship, and scaling ideas beyond the classroom.

Why It Matters
This hackathon wasn’t just about coding or electronics—it was about empowering the next generation of innovators. By equipping students with practical IoT skills, we are preparing them to address challenges in Cameroon and beyond, using technology as a tool for impact.
What’s Next
As we continue to engage universities across the country, our mission remains clear: to build a vibrant ecosystem of young tech leaders who will drive transformation in health, energy, education, and agriculture. The University of Buea students have shown us that the future is indeed in capable hands.

We celebrate every participant for their commitment and brilliance—and we look forward to seeing these projects grow into real solutions for society.
